Washington State Prenuptial Agreements
There are many lawyers who will push couples to sign a prenuptial agreement before the start of their lives together as a married couple. I’m not one of those lawyers. I feel that the choice to enter into a legally binding agreement of this kind is a personal one, and can only be decided by the couple in question.
Divorce law varies from state to state, and when even the best marriage ends, there can be a lengthy period of mediation and sometimes litigation in order to deem what is a fair division of assets and property. A prenuptial agreement makes it clear what belongs to whom, to put it plainly. This agreement can protect separate assets brought to the marriage, or can legally declare that everything is shared evenly after the wedding day.
If you and your partner desire a prenuptial agreement, please do not hesitate to contact me. I will be happy to discuss your options and arrange for an amicable mediation, and then draw up a prenuptial agreement that fits your needs.
